Artist Statement
My purpose as an artist and writer is to create. Whether I am painting a surreal landscape as only I can see it, developing an advertising campaign, or writing about growing up with six siblings, I thrive on bringing images to life. The swish of my pen on paper is just as rewarding as the swirl of my paint brush on canvas. Both mediums enable me to express how I view the world. I am inspired by traditional artists like Klimt (I love orange and gold) and Monet, while my writing style strives to be more contemporary. Life is about learning and growing. After almost seventeen years with Gannett as an advertising manager helping market thousands of businesses, I received a Bachlor’s degree in Marketing and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from SUNY Empire. In 2012, I look forward to teaching art and advertising/marketing to students.
Many of my paintings reflect a passion for the changing seasons that only New York State can boast. Horseheads and Ithaca are places I call home. Both my children are also aspiring artists.
